Roger Newman (Lib Dem)

Roger, originally qualified as a retail manager following a management training programme with one of the UK's largest superstores. He worked at Head Office in the Planning & Development department. After college, he also spent a year with a charity in the London Boroughs of Wandsworth and Wimbledon working with social services, the LEA and youth service. He also spent time with the homeless in Central London giving advice and assistance. He has a recently gained a Certificate in social science and is working towards a similar qualification in Health and social care and is keen to see how this knowledge can be used in our community.

Roger now works for a major UK airline and is keen to bring many experiences of both urban social skills and cultural knowledge to the council. In his spare time he enjoys walking, cycling and swimming. He also has an interest in environmental issues and would like to raise awareness and work towards wider recycling schemes, better and safer cycle lanes and work with local transport providers to enable more people a cost effective alternative.
