Yateley Parish Plan

"It is up to you, the community, to help decide what is important to Yateley"

Hart District Council and Yateley Town Council are supporting the development of Parish Plans and encouraging us (the citizens!) to take part in deciding the shape of Yateley and the development of its facilities.

For more information and to view the draft Yateley Parish Plan visit the Yateley Parish Plan Wiki Forum

What is a Parish Plan?
It is a vision of how you would like your town to be.
The Parish Plan can address any social, economic or environmental issue, such as:

Housing
Transport
Access to services e.g. dentists, doctors surgeries
Local parks and green spaces
Health and well-being
Community safety
New building projects - ensuring designs and uses are compatible with existing buildings and their residents
Character of Yateley
Why is a Parish Plan needed?
It helps councillors to know what the community wants, what is missing from the town and how many people would use more facilities.
It enables local people to shape the future of the town.
It helps identify problems and opportunities affecting the community.
Parish Plans can influence the local authority planning policy.
How does the Village Design Framework fit in?
The VDF will provide guidance for the long term development of Yateley Town Centre.
The VDF is a component part of the Parish Plan however; the vision for the town centre will be prepared to a higher level of detail.
How can Yateley achieve a Parish Plan?
We have set up a steering group made up of representatives from the following groups:
Yateley Town Council
Hart District Council
Hampshire County Council
Yateley Town Centre Management committee
Yateley Area Churches Together
The Yateley Society
Yateley Schools
Yateley Neighbourcare
Yateley Business Forum
Yateley Residents
The steering group will work closely with Local Authorities to resolve areas of conflict by taking a balanced view or compromise. It will identify the issues and find out the arguments, which will not necessarily be the views of the majority.
The group will ensure consultation is as broad as possible using existing local groups to promote ideas but also giving all Yateley people a chance to express their views.
The group will promote the Parish Plan including press releases and public meetings.

* Details of public meetings etc will appear here
